When to begin Dental Prophylaxis?
Even expecting mothers should schedule a consultation in our practice to acquaint themselves with dental prophylaxis, which they should bear in mind both for themselves during pregnancy and later for the infant.
Healthy and well-cared-for teeth in the mother are an absolute necessity in preventing tooth decay in the infant.
When do I go to the dentist with my child for the first time?
A child should first be brought to the dentist when the first tooth is completely visible. This serves to familiarize the child with the dentist and to establish visits as routine. Until the sixth birthday, the dentist regularly examines a child and parents are given advice regarding household prophylaxis.
From the sixth to the eighteenth birthday, individual prophylaxis takes place biannually. During these visits, cleaning behavior is checked and the technique learned and practice. Following this, there is a nutrition consultation with the parents and children, as well as a fluoridation and sealing of the teeth.
